Lions vs Bears Odds 2010 NFL Week 1 Predictions: The Detroit Lions are looking to turn things around this season and they begin their journey this Sunday at 1 PM ET when they take on Chicago Bears at Soldier Field Stadium for some 2010 NFL Week 1 Predictions action. The Lions vs. Bears NFL Betting Point Spread have the Bears -6.5 at BETUS.com
The Lions made some adjustments and acquisitions this offseason in order to look better than the 2-14 team from last season. The pass rushing defense got significantly better with the addition of DE Kyle Vanden Bosh, who played for Jim Schwartz at Tennessee and with the third pick of 2010 NFL draft, the Lions took DT Ndamukong Suh. Both of new additions make the Lions defense drastically better.
Also Schwartz brought TE Tony Scheffler and WR Nate Burleson to give second year QB Mathew Stafford two new weapons at his disposal. Keep in mind they also drafted RB Jahvid Best from California, the speedster will become the number one choice in the running game once he gets rid of the competition of Kevin Smith.
The Bears on the other side, signed Julius Peppers in the offseason to give more presence to their defense which is trying once again to become a dominant unit. Last season Chicago was 21th allowing points with a 23.4 average; now with the Peppers the past rush should be better and of course the whole D too.
However the unit where the Bears have more questions is the offensive one, especially in the QB position after Jay Cutler threw 26 interceptions (a career high and the worst in 2009) last season. Cutler will now have Mike Martz as an offensive coordinator, which should give him a whole new scheme. Despite the fact that the Bears are the favorites in this one, the Detroit Lions seem to me as a team that could cover six points as underdogs; I believe this game is going to be closer than most people think.
