NFL Week 1 Predictions: Indianapolis Colts vs Houston Texans Spreads Indianapolis will be playing on the road without Peyton Manning against one of the most talented teams in the league will be too much. The Texans have been closing the gap for years, they split with the Colts last season and six of the seven games prior to that were decided by eight points or fewer. It's too easy to say the Colts don't have a chance and that would be an insult to too many talented guys. Kerry Collins has too much to learn in a short time. But the Colts won't just roll over. They’ll want to prove that they can win without Manning and they’ll be sure to give the Texans a tough time. On offense they’ll run the ball more than a little.  On defense they’ll try to stop the run and limit the big plays of Matt Schaub, Andre Johnson and Arian Foster.

Houston has every starter returning except perhaps RB Arian Foster, who has been nursing a hamstring injury. He ran for 231 yards and three touchdowns in last year's opener at Reliant Stadium. The Texans are loaded with talent on offense, but only one starter, CB Kareem Jackson, is in the same spot on defense as last season. New defensive coordinator Wade Phillips has installed a 3-4 and has five first- or second-round picks at linebacker, including 6-7, 285-pound Mario Williams. While QB Matt Schaub's numbers weren't bad — 4,370 passing yards, 24 touchdowns, 63.6 completion percentage — he wasn't as productive as in 2009. He made it to his first Pro Bowl in 2009 after passing for a career-high 4,770 yards and 29 TDs with a 67.9 completion percentage. The eighth-year pro said one preseason point of emphasis was faster starts. The Texans trailed at halftime in eight of their 10 losses.

Recent Trends to Consider:
Over is 6-0 in the last 6 meetings in Houston.
Over is 10-2 in the last 12 meetings.

Texans are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games in Week 1.
Texans are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
