Monday Night Football Odds 2013 NFL Week 1

eagles-skins-MNFIt has been a crazy opening weekend of NFL action thus far as the Denver Broncos looked like the defending Super Bowl champions in crushing the Baltimore Ravens, but that contest, despite expectations, was really the only blowout leading up to this evening’s Monday night games. New England, playing as a 10 point road favorite, barely escaped against the new look Bills in Buffalo and a heavily favored Indianapolis Colts squad nearly suffered a similar fate while hosting the lowly Oakland Raiders. The Bills and Raiders were two of six underdogs that either covered the number or won outright; the others were Miami, NY Jets, Tennessee, and Arizona. The Bengals drew a push as a three point road dog against the Bears. Those results should bring hope to Eagles and Chargers backers this evening. Monday Night Football Odds 2013 NFL Week 1 from have the hosting Redskins listed as a -4 NFL point spreads¬†favorite while the Texans are laying six points on the road against San Diego.

Eagles vs Redskins (-4, Over/Under 53): Tonight will mark Chip Kelly’s NFL coaching debut and his Eagles draw a tough assignment in the defending NFC East champion Redskins. However, Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III could be a bit rusty after sitting out the entire preseason. Kelly’s fast break offense will need to have success, but if it does, the Redskins and their star quarterback could feel some heat. It is also worth mentioning that Eagles quarterback Michael Vick has played some of his best football against Washington. Vick owns a 110.5 career passer rating opposite the Redskins and his record in starts against them is a nearly flawless 6-1.

Texans vs Chargers (+6, Over/Under 45): Like many big dogs this weekend, the Chargers are seen as lambs heading to the slaughter, but that is a naive line of thinking. Are the Texans the better team? Of course. But playing a Monday night season opener in another team’s building is always difficult. And, while there are rumors of San Diego being one of the worst teams in the league this season those rumors have yet to play out. The Chargers were a 7-9 team last year, which showed occasional flashes of competency, even against some pretty good competition.
