NFL Week 2 Predictions 2012

by Scott Burgess on Wednesday, September 12th, 2012

Week 2 of the 2012 NFL season is almost here, Thursday Sept 13-17, as we look at the Week 2 schedule and the odds. Let’s have a peak at some of my NFL Week 2 Predictions for the 2012 season. In my opinion the best matchup in Week 2 is the Baltimore Ravens at the Philadelphia Eagles. Baltimore scored the second most points in the opening week of any team in the NFL, while Philadelphia barely got a win in Cleveland considering they were nine point favorites going into the game. The scary truth for the Eagles is the Redskins and Cowboys looked vastly improved over last season. Point-Spreads.com recommends you check out the latest NFL Point Spreads heading into the second week of the 2012 NFL season.

Baltimore Ravens at Philadelphia Eagles (-2.5) (o/u-46)
The Ravens have a legitimate offense with real weapons, including an accurate quarterback. The Ravens put up 44 points in a season-opening win against the Cincinnati Bengals Monday night. It was only the Bengals. But Cincinnati was ranked No. 7 in total defense last season, 10th against the run and ninth against the pass. The Ravens had speed and playmakers on the outside with receivers Torrey Smith and Jacoby Jones. The Ravens had Ray Ricein the backfield or in the slot or split out as a receiver. Rice was gaining big yards inside as a runner, or turning a short pass into 18 yards as a receiver. With Rice running so well, the Ravens’ play-action game was superb.

The Eagles are trying to win a division which not only returns the defending Super Bowl champion Giants, but teams in Washington and Dallas which certainly were significantly more impressive than Andy Reid’s bunch. But, barely winning in Cleveland 17-16 doesn’t put the scare in opposing teams. Except for their defense, the Eagles generally looked like the team that started 4-8 and not the one that finished with four wins last year. Sure, Juan Castillo’s defense looked encouraging. But, the Eagles will only go as far as Michael Vick will take them. And, Vick was only a fingertip or two away from throwing his fifth interception. The scary truth for the Eagles is the Redskins and Cowboys looked vastly improved over last season. PREDICTION: Ravens +2.5
