Indianapolis Colts vs Minnesota Vikings NFL Week 2 Picks

A home opener at a new stadium, and a Monday Night Football debut, wasn’t lucky for the Indianapolis Colts (0-1) in Week 1 as they dropped their first game to the Chicago Bears, while the Minnesota Vikings (0-1) look to win their home opener after losing to Green Bay last week. The Colts hit the road to face off against the Vikings, Sunday September 14, at the Metrodome. The Colts Lucas Oil Stadium looked absolutely spectacular, but the Colts didn’t as they lost 13-29 to Chicago. QB Peyton Manning missed most of training camp and their preseason games, and it showed. Despite completing 30 of 49 passes for 257 yards and one touchdown pass, it was ugly. Their offense managed, a 20th ranked, 293 total yards and they only managed 53 rushing yards. RB Joseph Addai ran for 44 yards on 12 carries, but suffered a head injury and was unable to continue. He is listed as day to day. They also lost TE Dallas Clark to a knee injury and there’s no word on his return. Their defense was their biggest let down, they allowed a 29th ranked 183 rushing yards. And against a Vikings team that has the electric running back Adrian Peterson, they need to get their sh*t in gear. Their pass defense did well allowing a 7th ranked 136 pass yards. Indianapolis has lost five straight visits to Minnesota, but hasn't played at the Metrodome since 1997

The Vikings dropped their first game 19-24 to rivals Green Bay. They led the NFL last season in rushing and they continued right where they left off, RB Adrian Peterson had 19 carries for 114 yards with one touchdown, while RB Chester Taylor had 3 catches for 21 yards and 5 carries for 19 yards. They finished with a 3rd ranked 187 rushing yards. Their passing game wasn’t effective as QB Tarvaris Jackson completed just 16 of 35 passes for 178 yards, with his last attempt an interception that effectively ended the game. They failed to move the ball several times, and settled for field goals twice inside the red zone. They solidified their defense in the offseason, but Pro Bowl DE Jared Allen, fellow Pro Bowlers Kevin Williams and Pat Williams, didn't record a sack or turnover in the game. Minnesota has lost eight of its past 10 interconference games while the Colts have won 17 of their previous 21 against NFC teams.
