Cleveland Browns vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2010 NFL Predictions, 2010 NFL Picks & 2010 NFL Odds: Two of the worst teams in the league last season look to start anew today as the Browns and Buccaneers tangle at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay. This afternoon's game is set to get underway at 1:00pm ET on CBS. 2010 NFL Predictions, Picks & Odds at Sportsbook.com have the Bucs listed as a -3 against the spread home favorite; the Over/Under is set at 37.
Cleveland's revamped roster had its most during the preseason, just enough to finish 2-2 in exhibition play. Head Coach
Eric Mangini is hopeful that quarterback Jake Delhomme, who the team signed in the offseason, can perform as well in the regular season as he did in the month of August. Delhomme played exceptional football throughout the preseason, completing 38-of-48 passes for 345 yards and two touchdowns (110.5 quarterback rating).
If Delhomme can even approach those numbers and running back Jerome Harrison, who rushed for 561 yards and five touchdowns in the Browns final three games last year, can pick up where he left off, Mangini may have something to lean on.
Tampa Bay also fought its way to a 2-2 exhibition tally in spite of losing starting quarterback Josh Freeman (broken thumb) in the first quarter of its second preseason contest. The Bucs did not turn heads on offense, averaging a mere 16 points per game; however, the defense, which acquired two of the top defensive tackles in April's draft (Gerald McCoy, Brian Price), did show some promise. Tampa yielded just 16 points per game during exhibition play, a number Raheem Morrris would relish to see this afternoon and throughout the regular season.
Freeman, by the way, is listed as probable for today's game on the Bucs injury report, which means his thumb must be fine.
Not sure of the line in this game given that the Bucs won just one game at Raymond James Stadium last season. Granted, the Browns were not road warriors, beating only the Bills and Chiefs away from home, but they can run the ball and Tampa cannot stop the run (gave up 158.2 yards per game on the ground last season, 103 rush yards per game allowed in its four preseason games). Take the Browns +3 in this battle between the 'have nots'.
2010 NFL Predictions Betting Trend: The Buccaneers are 2-7-1 against the spread and 3-7 straight up in their last 10 games as a home favorite with a spread between 0 and 3.5 (Under 7-3).
