New England offense is filled with players who can find space and get open quickly. Mismatches will abound and Brady and the Patriots will find ways to pick apart the Dolphins’ pass defense. The Patriots made a trade with Cincinnati on July 28 for six-time Pro Bowl receiver Chad Ochocinco. New England is counting on Ochocinco to give Brady another solid target in addition to Wes Welker, Deion Branch and tight ends Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski, and that group will face an excellent test Monday. Miami's cornerback duo of Vontae Davis and Sean Smith is, to hear Davis describe it, "the best tandem in the league." On offense the Pats have to protect Brady from the Dolphins Cameron Wake. Cameron Wake is a force to be reckoned with but the Pats can limit the pass rusher because of Brady's precise pocket presence. The 2010 NFL MVP will operate fully aware of Wake's presence and ability to change a game. Fortunately, the scintillating signal caller has a vast array of intermediate weapons to sling the rock to before Cam reaches him.
Miami will have to run the football and control the clock against the Patriots if they want to win. Rookie running back Daniel Thomas is nursing a hamstring injury and they don’t have a balanced offensive attack with RB’s Reggie Bush and Larry Johnson running the ball. QB Chad Henne is erratic and mistake-prone and will be in trouble against the Pats defense. Miami’s best offensive weapon in the air is Brandon Marshall, but the Patriots CB Devin McCourty will shadow Marshall and take away any chance of a pass game. The emergence of Cameron Wake as an elite pass rusher. With his 14 sacks last year and Pro Bowl selection, you would think people would respect the Dolphins' ability to get to the quarterback, but for some reason, they aren't.
