UNDERDOG ALERT! The Buffalo Bills (1-0) were very impressive in Week 1 when they beat Seattle during their home opener, while the Jacksonville Jaguars (0-1) were anything but against Tennessee during their first game on the road. The Bills put on a show in their season opener against the Seattle Seahawks winning 34-10. Bills QB Trent Edwards made 19 of 33 passes for 215 yards with one touchdown. They got offensive help with a punt return and a fake field goal to help blow out Seattle. They constantly pressured their opponents quarterback and their defense stepped up when needed. Their offense finished with an 11th ranked 338 total yards, 232 yards which were in the air and 106 yards on the ground. RB Marshall Lynch was their top runner with 18 carries for 76 yards and a touchdown while WR Lee Evans had four catches for 102 yards. Their defense was great as they forced two Seahawks turnovers, using a complex scheme that occasionally called for no down defensive lineman to confuse Seattle's offensive line. DT Marcus Stroud, three time All-pro with Jags, had three tackles and a half-sack during his debut, part of a five-sack day for the Bills.
The Jaguars lost their season opener to the Tennessee Titians 10-17 and were held to just 33 yards rushing on 17 carries as they converted just 5 of 13 third down conversions. As a team that’s favored to compete for the Super Bowl, they didn't even look like a playoff-caliber club. RB Fred Taylor and RB Maurice Jones-Drew combined for a low 31 yards rushing, considering the last two years they averaged 154 yards per game on the ground. QB David Garrard made 23 of 35 passes for 215 yards with one touchdown pass. The Jags offensive line allowed QB Garrard to be sacked seven times. They’ll be thin at wide receiver, Dennis Northcutt (back) and Troy Williamson (thigh) missed practice Thursday, leaving them with just three healthy players at the position – Matt Jones, Reggie Williams and Mike Walker. On defense the Jags gave up a 20th ranked 137 rushing yards and a 14th ranked 172 passing yards.
