Pittsburgh Steelers vs Cleveland Browns Betting Odds

by Matt Foust on Saturday, September 13th, 2008

The Pittsburgh Steelers looked like a juggernaut last weekend at home against the Texans. They jumped on Houston early and never let up. This week they will travel to Cleveland to face the Browns in an AFC North rivalry showdown on Sunday Night Football. The game begins at 8:15pm ET on NBC. NFL Week 2 Betting Odds at Sportsbook.com are favoring the Steelers -6.5 on the road.NFL Week 2 Predictions: Pittsburgh Steelers vs Cleveland Browns

Pittsburgh looked playoff ready in their home opener last week and Houston was the unfortunate victim of their overpowering attack. The Steelers held the ball for almost 32 minutes and they ran 39 times for 183 yards. Wille Parker averaged 5.5 yards per carry and scored three touchdowns. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was nearly perfect, completing 13-of-14 passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns. The Steelers defense limited to Texans to just 234 yards and forced three turnovers.

The Browns looked like they needed another exhibition warm-up last week versus the Cowboys. They were out of sync from the get go, especially wide receiver Braylon Edwards and quarterback Derek Anderson. Edwards dropped several passes and the two he did catch went for just 14 yards. Anderson completed just 11-of-24 passes for 114 yards. The Cowboys also wore out the Cleveland defense on their way to 487 yards of offense.

Key Match-up: The Steelers offensive line was somewhat of a question mark entering the season, but last week they looked great. The Browns defensive line was a question mark too and against the Cowboys they gave a definitive answer that said they are not very good. They will need to play much better this week if they are to stay in this game, home or not.

NFL Week 2 Betting Odds Trend: The Under is 4-1 the last five years when the Steelers played as an away favorite during the month of September.

Sportsbook.com's NFL Week 2 Betting Odds for the Steelers vs Browns:

Steelers -6.5 (-110), Over 44.5 (-110), -270 (Money line)

Browns +6.5 (-110), Under 44.5 (-110), +230 (Money line)
