Eagles Breakdown: Andy Reid's squad looks to have improved, at 
least on paper, over the off-season. His Eagles had no trouble putting points on the board a season ago, ranking sixth in the league in points per game, but they appear to be even more dangerous now with the additions of wide receiver Jeremy Maclin, quarterback Michael Vick, and running back LeSean McCoy. And, of course, they still have the principle producers in Donovan McNaab, DeSean Jackson, and Brian Westbrook.
If there are any question marks with this team, they are on the defensive side of the ball. Numerous injuries along the defensive line were showed up in the preseason as Philly yielded a league high 120 points. Also, the unit is working under a new coordinator in Sean McDermott, who took over for the departed Jim Johnson this summer.
Panthers Breakdown: It is amazing how much things can change over an off-season, and not necessarily in reality, but perception. The Panthers were one of the NFC favorites to reach the Super Bowl last year after going 12-4 overall and 8-0 at home. But a shocking loss to the Cardinals in last year's divisional playoff at Bank of America Stadium has cast a shadow on John Fox's club.
The team suffered numerous injuries this preseason and went 0-4, creating further doubt as to how well the Panthers are going to recover from that stunning defeat. Perception has been altered enough that a team that went undefeated at home last year is now a week one home dog.
The reality is that Carolina returns the main contributors to last year's amazing run, which should make this one of the more exciting games on today's docket.
Game Note: Brian Westbrook, who missed the entire preseason recovering from ankle surgery, is scheduled to start today. However, he will likely be spelled early and often by rookie LeSean McCoy. Panthers Jon Beason (knee) and Jonathan Stewart (achilles) are listed as probable for today's game.
