The Titans (1-0) beat the Jags 17-10 in their home opener, but they lost QB Vince Young. With Young sidelined by a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee, it’ll be up to 14-year veteran Kerry Collins to getter done. Collins will start for the fifth time since the beginning of the 2006 season. He went 0-3 in 2006 and 1-0 last year. The Titans signed Chris Simms to back up Collins. Their offense struggled under Vince Young, but their defense stepped up big time. They had seven sacks, forced three turnovers and held the Jaguars to 189 total yards, third-fewest in the NFL in Week 1. Their best bet at getting past the Bengals is to abuse their poor rush defense, which is ranked 31st after allowing 229 rushing yards.
The Bengals (0-1) started their season poorly after losing to the Baltimore 10-17 on the road. QB Carson Palmer had his worst showing at the helm, completing 9 of 24 passes for 94 yards and a 35.2 rating. His offensive line failed to protect him as he was sacked twice after allowing only 17 all of last season. He was also knocked down repeatedly. WR Chad Johnson was just as bad with one catch for 22 yards and WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh had three catches for 44 yards. Both receivers decided to skip voluntary workouts over the summer, idiots! Their offense is ranked the worst in the league and their defense was just as bad, the only good thing on defense was their pass defense, which allowed a low 129 yards. The Bengals have won their last two games against the Titans, including a 35-6 rout on Nov. 25. Palmer completed 32 of 38 passes for 283 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in that game.
