2012 NFL Picks Week 2

The NFL’s Week 2 schedule is looking great with some big time matchups and some chances for some underdogs to spoil the fun. My top matchup has the Pittsburgh Steelers hosting the NY Jets, who put up the most points during Week 1’s win, and the Steelers got out played by Denver. My underdog pick has the Baltimore Ravens as dogs playing in Philadelphia against the Eagles, who were lucky to beat Cleveland by one point. Here are my expert 2012 NFL Picks for Week 2 and the odds. We recommend you check out the latest NFL Point Spreads heading into the second week of the 2012 NFL season.

N.Y. Jets (+6.5) at Pittsburgh Steelers (o/u-41.5)
Pittsburgh hasn’t started a season 0-2 since 2002, though that didn’t stop the Steelers from finishing 10-5-1 and making it to the divisional round of the playoffs. The Steelers haven’t even lost consecutive games since a five-game slide in 2009. They pride themselves on their resilience, but will need it against the Jets.

The Jets chances of using the Wildcat against the Steelers defense aren’t going to work too well. Tim Tebow rushed for 11 yards on five carries on Sunday. They musn’t use the Wildcat if it’s only going to be a gimmick. And don’t remove a hot quarterback from the game to do it. Granted, one game cannot serve as a referendum on whether the formation will work for Tebow and the Jets over the long haul this season. And also keep in mind that the Jets still haven’t shown much of it. On his seven plays as the quarterback Sunday, Tebow kept the ball five times and handed off twice. Not once did he throw, or even look like he was thinking about throwing.

Point-Spreads.com recommends you check out the 2012 NFL Picks as the 2012 NFL Regular season kicks-off. The Steelers defense lacked a certain bite during Sunday’s 19-31 season-opening loss at Denver. Denver didn’t dominate on the ground — averaging just 3.5 yards per carry — but ran it effectively enough with Willis McGahee to keep Pittsburgh off balance. The Steelers sacked Manning twice in the first half and created an early turnover, but did little after halftime. Tim Tebow lit up Pittsburgh while beating the Steelers in the playoffs last winter as quarterback for the Broncos. He’s firmly behind starter Mark Sanchez in New York, though Tomlin warned the Jets just showed “the tip of the iceberg” when it comes to their plans for the versatile Tebow this season.
