San Diego Chargers at New England Patriots Preview

by Thomas Jensen on Sunday, September 16th, 2007

San Diego Chargers at New England Patriots PreviewThe San Diego Chargers vs New England Patriots will have to work out some bad blood on the field tonight when they go head to head in Foxboro. The last time these two teams met on the field was during the AFC Playoffs last season and New England edged out San Diego’s dream of a Super Bow by beating them 24-21. The New England Patriots are 3 point home favorites and tht TOTAL in the game is 46 points at WagerWeb.com.

San Diego star running back LaDainian Tomlinson was able to rack up 123 yards and 2 touchdowns in the loss and was absolutely pissed after the game. Tomlinson called the New England Patriots' celebration "disrespectful." The irony of the situation today and what is on everyone’s mind is whether or not the New England Patriots cheated in that game, every team that ever lost to New England is asking themselves if the Patriots cheated.

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick took it in the wallet this weekend after being fined $500,000 by NFL Commissioner Goodell. The team was fined $250,000 and will lose draft picks next season over the incident after they were caught videotaping the Jets' defensive signals last week. New England likely didn't need any extra help against New York last week in a 38-14 win as a 6.5-point favorite.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady threw for 297 yards with 3 touchdowns and Randy Moss debut with the Pats having 9 receptions for 183 yards and a touchdown. Wes Welker also looked impressive in his first game as a Pats, catching 6 balls for 61 yards and a touchdown. The NE defense held the New York Jets to only 227 of total offense and racked up 5 sacks.

The San Diego Chargers were able to secure a hard fought 14-3 win over the Chicago Bears as a 6-point favorite. Unfortunately for the Chargers, they could not get their air attack off the ground against the stingy Chicago Bears defense. LaDainian Tomlinson was only able to run for 25 yards on 17 carries and reached the end zone once. Tomlinson did throw a 17 yard touchdown pass to Antonio Gates while quarterback Philip Rivers struggled. The Chargers defense played extremely well recording 3 sacks.
