Despite coming off a victory in week 1, the Chargers will have plenty to worry about today against Tom Brady and the Pats. The Bolts defeated the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1, 24-17, as Donovan McNabb threw for a miserable total of 38 yards the whole game. I somehow get the feeling that today’s opposing quarterback may just surpass that total.
Brady is coming off one of the best performances ever for any quarterback in this league. Throwing for 517 yards and 4 touchdowns, Brady catapulted the Patriots to a 38-24 win over the Miami Dolphins. The OVER/UNDER for this game is set at a combined total of 52½ points scored.
Another great game on the NFL Week 2 schedule takes place at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, as the defending champion (1-0-0) Green Bay Packers [-10½] get their first look at Cam Newton and this year’s (0-1-0) Carolina Panthers [+10½]. This game’s kickoff is set for today at 1 PM ET and the OVER/UNDER is 45 points.
The Packers are coming off a huge victory over the New Orleans Saints, 42-34. In what became an offensive explosion from both teams, Aaron Rodgers & Co. was barely able to pull through despite 419 yards from Drew Brees. In the end, it was Green Bay’s defense that won the game, stuffing the Saints short of the goal line as time expired.
For the Panthers, the much-anticipated debut of this year’s No.1 pick, didn’t not disappoint anyone. Newton was very impressing against a sub-par Cardinals defense, registering 422 yards, 4 TDs and an INT. The reigning Heisman Trophy winner also ran the ball well for the Panthers, running it in for a TD and finishing with 18 yards on 8 carried.
