The Bills may have a new head coach, but their offense still looked like the same punchless unit from last season in last 
weekend's home opener. Buffalo could do nothing against division rival Miami, amassing nine first downs and a grand total of 166 yards in the 15-10 loss.
Quarterback Trent Edwards did throw a touchdown pass (31 yard fourth quarter strike to Roscoe Parrish), but his accuracy remained an issue as he completed just 18-of-34 passes for 139 yards. The rushing attack did not fare any better, even with rookie running back CJ Spiller getting the start (seven carries for six yards), as the team racked up 50 yards on 17 carries for a 2.9 yards per carry average.
The Bills defense did keep the team in the game, though, by holding the Dolphins to 296 yards. Buffalo's performance was even more impressive considering Miami held the ball for 36:54.
Green Bay did not mimic one of its flawless preseason outings last Sunday in Philadelphia, but the Packers got an important 27-20 road victory over the Eagles nonetheless. Mike McCarthy's squad finished with 22 first downs and 299 yards of offense on a day that All Pro quarterback Aaron Rodgers completed 19-of-31 passes for 188 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions.
The Packers ground game, which lost running back Ryan Grant for the season due to a first half leg injury, rushed for 132 yards on 33 carries. Brandon Jackson, who will step into the starting role with Grant out, rushed for 63 yards on 18 attempts.
Green Bay's defense played superb for the better part of two quarters, but momentum swung in favor of the Eagles offense after the Packers knocked quarterback Kevin Kolb out of the game. Michael Vick punished Green Bay after taking over for Kolb, throwing for 175 yards and a touchdown while also rushing for 103 yards on just 11 carries.
Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capers will have no such game plan altering worries today when his troops square of against the Bills offense.
