Miami Dolphins vs Minnesota Vikings 2010 NFL Picks, 2010 NFL Predictions & 2010 NFL Odds: The Miami Dolphins have made the trek north again this weekend as they take on the Vikings in their home opener at the Metrodome. Today's game is scheduled to get underway at 1:00pm ET in Minneapolis and will be broadcast live on CBS. 2010 NFL Picks, Predictions & Odds at Sportsbook.com have Minnesota listed as a -5.5 against the spread home favorite; the game total is presently listed at 39.
Minnesota looked completely out of sync offensively last Thursday night in New Orleans and the stat sheet as well as the
final score reflected that fact. The Vikings produced just 12 first downs and 253 total yards in the 14-9 loss to the Saints.
Brett Favre performed like a man who barely took part in training camp and threw about 20 preseason passes as he completed 15-of-27 for 171 yards, one touchdown, and an interception (71.7 passer rating). The lone bright spots, at least offensively, for Minnesota were running back Adrian Peterson, who carried the ball 19 times for 87 yards, and tight end Visanthe Shiancoe, who caught four passes for 76 yards and a score.
The Vikings defense, other than the Saints five play, 77 yard touchdown drive to open the game, played well. Not only did Jared Allen and company hold New Orleans high flying offense to 14 points, they also limited it 18 first downs and 308 total yards.
Miami opened its season with a 15-10 victory over division rival Buffalo at Ralph Wilson Stadium in New York. The Dolphins offense was not that impressive in the win, manufacturing just 296 total yards in 36:43 of possession time. Miami, which did convert 8-of-18 on third down, got 182 yards out of quarterback Chad Henne (21-of-34), who failed to throw a touchdown but also avoided any costly interceptions.
Wide receiver Brandon Marshall caught eight passes, which totaled all of 53 yards, in his regular season debut for the Dolphins.
Miami's defense more than made up for the offense's lack of production, though, holding the Bills to nine first downs and 166 total yards. Rookie linebacker Koa Misi and veteran addition Karlos Dansby both had nice performances in the win, combining for 12 tackles, five quarterback hits, and two sacks.
2010 NFL Picks Betting Trend: The Vikings are 7-3 against the spread and 9-1 straight up in their last 10 games as a home favorite in the month of September.
