Philadelphia Eagles vs Detroit Lions 2010 NFL Picks, 2010 NFL Odds & 2010 NFL Predictions: The Philadelphia Eagles are in the Motor City today for an afternoon meeting with the Detroit Lions. The NFC dust up is scheduled to get underway at 1:00pm ET at Ford Field and will be broadcast live on FOX. 2010 NFL Picks, Odds & Predictions at SBGglobal.com have the Eagles listed as a -6.5 against the spread road favorite and the game total set at 41.5.
Philadelphia had a rough season opener, losing to the Packers 20-27 at Lincoln Financial Field. Quarterback Kevin Kolb was
ineffective before suffering a first half concussion that sidelined him the remainder of the game, completing just 5-of-10 passes for 24 yards. Michael Vick replaced Kolb, who will also miss today's contest, and he looked like a man still capable of punishing a defense.
Vick threw for 175 yards and a touchdown and led the team in rushing with 103 yards on 11 carries. His effort was not enough, though, as Head Coach Andy Reid's horrendous clock management all but assured a Green Bay victory.
The Eagles defense played reasonably well, despite giving up 22 first downs and 27 points, limiting the Packers potent offense to 299 total yards while also picking off Aaron Rodgers twice.
Vick will be making his first start since stepping under center for the Falcons in December of 2006 against the Eagles. The Virginia Tech product threw for just 81 yards and rushed for 17 in a 24-17 loss at Philly.
As bad as the Eagles had it in week one, the Lions had it even worse. Detroit lost 14-19 at Chicago after a late touchdown pass to Calvin Johnson was ruled incomplete. The unfortunate development, at least from Detroit's perspective, really only masked the fact that the Lions should not have even been in the game.
Jim Schwartz' club had 13 first downs and 168 total yards while averaging a miserable one yard per carry. The Lions held a late lead only because Chicago turned the ball over four times (three fumbles, one interception).
Detroit also lost its starting quarterback, Matthew Stafford, to a shoulder injury late in the first half. Stafford, who suffered the separation on a sack by Julius Peppers, could miss anywhere from four to six weeks.
2010 NFL Picks Betting Trend: The Eagles are 8-2 straight up and against the spread in their last 10 games as a road favorite with a spread between 4 and 7.5.
