NFL Odds Week 3: If the biggest game on the Week 2 NFL scheduled proved anything, it solidified Tom Brady’s status as the best quarterback in the league and the New England Patriots as legitimate Super Bowl contenders in 2011. Going up against one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL, the Patriots defense stood it’s ground, while the offense fought fire with fire, behind another ridiculous performance by No.12.
After throwing for over 500 yards in the season opener at Miami, Brady made his 2011 home debut by completing 31 of his 40 pass attempts for 423 yards and three touchdowns. After two weeks, Brady leads the league in yards with 940, followed by rookie Cam Newton’s 854. With 7 TDs, Brady also finds himself tied for the league lead with the Matt Stafford (Lions) and Ryan Fitzpatrick (Bills).
“He’s the best,” said Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo of Brady. “Numbers don’t lie.”
In this NFL Odds Week 3, the (2-0-0) New England Patriots [-9] will be the sports betting odds favorites against one of the biggest surprises this season. Brady & Co. will travel to Ralph Wilson Stadium to take on the undefeated (2-0-0) Buffalo Bills [+9] in an important AFC East Division battle.
The Bills are coming off a huge comeback win over the Oakland Raiders on Sunday, 38-35. After falling behind 21-3 by halftime, Fitzpatrick along with the Bills defense, mounted a furious run. The 35-14 rally was capped off by a fourth down, game-winning TD pass with just 14 seconds left on the game-clock.
When it was all said and done, the Bills’ seventh-year signal-caller out of Harvard completed 28 of 46 for 264 yards, 3 TDs and an interception. The Bills find themselves in a three-way tie with New England and New York for the AFC East’s top spot.
“Determination. We had the determination,” said Bills receiver Stevie Johnson, the man that caught the winning pass. “Everybody was just a unit. We came out and did what we had to do.”
