New York Giants vs Dallas Cowboys NFL Picks, NFL Predictions & NFL Odds: The New York Giants are in Dallas tonight to face their arch rival, the Cowboys. The two NFC East foes will break in Jerry Jones new stadium tonight at 8:20pm ET on NBC's Sunday Night Football. NFL Picks at Sportsbook.com have Dallas listed as a -3 against the spread home favorite.
Giants Breakdown: New York opened the season with a division win,
getting by the Redskins 23-17 at the Meadowlands last Sunday. The Giants did not look spectacular offensively, but still amassed 351 yards. They had 18 first downs on the day and converted nearly 50-percent of their third down opportunities.
Quarterback Eli Manning completed 20 of his 29 pass attempts for 256 yards. Manning also had one touchdown pass, connecting with Mario Manningham on a 30 yarder in the second quarter, and an interception (DeAngelo Hall). His performance resulted in a stellar 93.5 quarterback rating.
The New York ground game found the going a little tough against the Redskins front seven, but still topped the century mark with a total of 103 yards. Ahmad Bradshaw led the team with 60 yards in 12 carries. The Giants did not have a rushing touchdown in the win.
Tom Coughlin's defense, minus coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, still looked dominant, holding Washington to 272 total yards and 15 first downs. The unit also came through with a big touchdown in the second quarter as defensive end Osi Umenyiora recovered a fumble and took it 37 yards to paydirt.
The Giants last outing in the Big D was memorable for its ineptitude. New York lost 20-8 after posting a paltry 218 yards. Manning was sacked eight times and Coughlin's squad finished -2 in the turnover department.
Cowboys Breakdown: Dallas aired it out last week in Tampa Bay and came away with a 34-21 win against Raheem Morris' retooled Buccaneers. The Cowboys racked up an impressive 462 yards of offense and all but 118 of that total came via the pass.
Quarterback Tony Romo had one of the best games of his career, throwing for 353 yards and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Patrick Crayton was the main beneficiary of Romo's big day as he reeled four balls for 135 yards and a touchdown.
The Cowboys rushing attack showed well in an obvious supporting role, averaging 4.9 yards per carry. Running back Marion Barber led the way with 79 yards in 14 carries.
Thankfully for Dallas fans, Wade Phillips' offense played as well as it did, because his defense was a mere speed bump for the Buccaneers. Tampa Bay had 26 first downs and 450 yards in the loss. The Bucs had their way through the air and on the ground, accumulating 276 and 174 yards respectively. Dallas also failed to record a sack, a category they led the league in last year with a total of 59.
NFL Picks Betting Trend: The Giants are 8-2 against the spread and straight up in their last 10 games as a road dog in the month of September with a spread between 0 and 3.5.
