New Orleans Saints vs San Francisco 49ers 2010 NFL Predictions, 2010 NFL Odds & 2010 NFL Picks: The New Orleans Saints, which have not played in nearly two weeks, are in San Francisco this evening for an NFC showdown with the Forty-Niners at Candlestick Park. The game is scheduled to kickoff at 8:30pm ET on ESPN's Monday Night Football. 2010 NFL Predictions, Odds & Picks at BetUS.com have the defending champion Saints listed as a -5 against the spread road favorite; the Over/Under is set at 43.5.
San Francisco entered the season with a great deal of hype as many had picked the team to finish first in the NFC West. The Niner's reputation took a major hit in last week's opener, though, with division rival Seattle laying a 31-6 beatdown on Mike Singletary's squad at Qwest Field.
The Niners offense played horribly in the loss, accounting for just 14 first downs and 263 total yards while committing two turnovers, both of which were Alex Smith interceptions. Despite the poor performance, several players, including tight end Vernon Davis, remain confident that the team will get things turned around, presumably starting tonight against New Orleans.
"This (tonight's game) is an opportunity to redeem ourselves and get back to where we need to be," said Davis, who led the team in receptions last week with eight. "We're a much better team than what you saw last week. It's great opportunity for us, especially on national television, to showcase our talents and show the world what we have. We have an outstanding team, a championship team."
New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees, who threw for 237 yards and one touchdown in the Saints 14-9 win over the Vikings on September 9th, seemed to concur with Davis' statements after prepping for tonight's battle with the Niners.
"They're a much better team than what they showed [last weekend]…you look at their personnel and you say, 'Man, this is a really good team that's right on the cusp with high expectations for this year,'" Brees said. "We know that we've got our work cut out for us and we're going to have to play our best game."
2010 NFL Predictions Betting Trend: San Francisco is 5-1 straight up and 4-1-1 against the spread over the last five years playing at home coming off a road loss.
