Week 3 NFL Picks

by Matt Foust on Monday, September 20th, 2010

Week 3 NFL Picks: The season is far from reaching critical mass, but there are a number of winless squads that need a victory this week in order to avoid an Armageddon like scenario. The Vikings and Cowboys, two teams which were expected to contend for division and conference titles, will be, perhaps, the most desperate clubs this weekend as they both sit at a surprising 0-2. Week 3 NFL Picks at online bookmaker Sportsbook.com are expecting Minnesota, a -10.5 favorite, to rebound against the Lions; however, Dallas is presently listed as a +3 road dog in its matchup with the upstart Texans.

Detroit Lions vs Minnesota Vikings (-10.5): Minnesota's performance in New Orleans caused Vikings fans to pause, but not Week 3 NFL Pickspanic. After all, their team was squaring off against the defending champs, it was okay to look a little rusty. The other shoe officially dropped with yesterday's loss to the Dolphins. Granted, Miami is far from a pushover, but almost everyone expected the Vikings to take it to the Fins. Instead they lost 14-10 and the guy Minnesota begged to come back for one more season had a heck of a lot to do with the setback. Will Detroit pay the price for yesterday's sloppy effort? History says it wil. The Lions have lost 12 in a row at the Metrodome as a road dog.

Dallas Cowboys vs Houston Texans (-3): Panic probably set in in Dallas the moment the Cowboys dropped their season opener to the Redskins. If not, it did yesterday when the underdog Bears rolled into Cowboys Stadium and thumped the Pokes 27-20. This team was suppose to be a Super Bowl contender, but through two games it is -4 in turnover margin and plagued by an inability to score points. Dallas has little trouble piling up the yardage (790 in two games), but it stalls out in the red zone (2-for-5 this season). Houston has suddenly become a do or die situation for Jerry Jones' club. They have fared well of late in that role, though, going 6-2 against the spread and 7-1 straight up over the last five years coming off back-to-back straight up losses.
