New England quickly dispelled any rumors that they are no longer a playoff contender by soundly beating the Brett Favre and the Jets on the road. Quarterback Matt Cassell played an efficient game in his first NFL start, hitting on 16-of-23 passes for 165 yards. In fact, his aerial show bested Favre's, as he committed no turnovers to Favre's one.
The Patriots certainly did not set the field on fire, accumulating just 260 yards, but they managed to hold the ball for nearly 32 minutes. New England's defense did the rest, limiting the New York offense to 256 yards.
The Dolphins, after showing some promise in their week one loss to the Jets, put on an ugly show last weekend versus the Cardinals. Arizona outplayed Miami on every front and the 31-10 final reflected their dominance. Kurt Warner threw for 361 yards and three touchdowns and Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald each had over 140 yards receiving.
Miami's offense, under the direction of Chad Pennington for the time being, will need to find a way to stay on the field this Sunday or Randy Moss could easily put up comparable numbers to Fitzgerald's and Boldin's.
