The New York Giants have opened up the defense of their Super Bowl championship by going 2-0. Last week New York did exactly what a good team is suppose to do a bad opponent, they physically took it to St. Louis and scored an easy victory. Eli Manning led an offense that produced 441 yards (241 passing, 200 rushing) and held the ball for almost 32 minutes. The defense not only proved stifling (201 yards allowed), they were also opportunistic, as defensive end Justin Tuck intercepted a pass and returned it 41 yards for a touchdown.
Cincinnati appears to be a team on the verge of imploding, if they have not already done so. Last year they were done in by poor defensive play and team infighting. Their miserable 0-2 start cannot bode well for a team that had a fragile psyche before a single down had been played.
The offense, which was once a team strength, now looks to be a weakness. Through two games the Bengals have produced just 369 yards and quarterback Carson Palmer has a 37.1 passer rating.
