Houston Texans vs New Orleans Saints Spreads NFL Week 3 Picks: The Houston Texans travel to the “Big Easy” to take on the New Orleans Saints, Sunday Sept 25th, in a game that is sure to have a lot of offense. The Texans won their last meeting 23-10, at home, but back in 2007. NFL oddsmakers have the Saints as -4 point home favorites over the Texans with the over/under set at 53 points. Houston (2-0) got a 23-13, road win, over Miami in Week 2, sending the Texans to 2-0 for the second year in a row. QB Matt Schaub completed 21 of 29 passes for 230 yards and had a passer rating of 118.5, while WR Andre Johnson made seven catches for 93 yards with a touchdown. The key for the Texans in this game is going to be how the offense handles the exotic blitzes created by Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams and how the defense handles a Saints running game that’s better than Miami’s. Against Miami, the Texans defense played the pass, keeping six players up front to stop the run and using five to control the pass. They limited Chad Henne to 170 yards after his 416-yard performance against New England, but they gave up 153 yards rushing, mostly between the tackles. I’m sure Arian Foster’s hamstring injury will be a daily issue again this week. I’ll be surprised if Derrick Ward is ready to play after having his sprained ankle in a boot. If Foster sits out the New Orleans game, Ben Tate will make his first start. He hasn’t been too shabby off the bench with 116 and 103 yards. After finishing 30th in the league in total defense last season, the Texans are leading the NFL in total defense (271 yards allowed per game) after Week 2.

New Orleans (1-1) defense beat up on Jay Cutler as they defeated the Chicago Bears 30-13, at home, in Week 2. QB Drew Brees completed 26 of 37 passes with three touchdowns, while his scoring strikes included a 79-yarder to Devery Henderson. Darren Sproles scored on a 12-yard swing pass, and Robert Meachem had a 4-yard TD reception. The Saints' No. 1 WR Marques Colston is still out for several more weeks with a broken collarbone, but Devery Henderson has shown that he's a viable option. It was the second consecutive 100-yard game for Henderson — he caught six passes for 100 yards and a touchdown in the season opener at Green Bay — and tied him for 10th in the league in receiving yards after two games. Only once before in his career, in 2006, has he had consecutive 100-yard receiving games, and he'd never had consecutive games with a receiving touchdown. He's a critical piece of the offensive puzzle, that his skills as a receiver give him a place with this franchise, that points and yards are a little easier to come by when he's on the field posing a threat
