Week 3 NFL Picks: Week 3 of the NFL season is once again stacked with intriguing matchups and NFL Odds. With teams finally started to get back into the groove of things, due to training camp that was severely shortened due to the Lockout, I believe this will be a week full of upsets up and down the schedule. I will do my best to predict which games have the best upset potentials this week, in relation to the NFL Odds for Week 3.
My favorite upset game this week I’ve already spoken about it. Please refer to my “2011 NFL Predictions Week 3” piece. But the Falcons vs. Buccaneers matchup isn’t the only one in which I think NFL Week 3 Odds will be wrong. There are plenty more, in fact. Another Week 3 NFL Picks upset occurs in the game between the 49ers and the Bengals.
According to NFL Week 3 Odds, the (1-1-0) Cincinnati Bengals [-3] are currently listed as the NFL Point Spreads favorites to defeat the visiting (1-1-0) San Francisco 49ers [+3]. This game kicks off Sunday afternoon at 1 PM ET on FOX and the OVER/UNDER is set at a total of 40½ points.
The Niners are coming off a tough overtime home loss to the Dallas Cowboys, 24-27 last week. Despite the loss, San Francisco has plenty to feel positive about going forward into the future. The fact that San Fran would have won this game if the offensive line would have done a better job of protecting Alex Smith, gives me the confidence to believe the Bengals “D” won’t be able to get through as easily.
I expect a big game from Smith, who threw for 179 yards and two touchdowns against the Cowboys’ secondary, and Frisco’s running game. Frank Gore should do a great job of setting the tone offensively and making the play-action a key in the win. With the Niners controlling the clock on offense, I count on their defense, which is currently tops in the NFL’s against the rush, to open the door for turnovers byh making the Bengals predictable in the passing game.
