The Chiefs (0-2) lost to Oakland 10-13 at home in Week 2. QB Matt Cassel made 24 of 39 passes for 241 yards with a TD in his first game as a Chief. RB Larry Johnson had 24 carries for 78 yards, while top WR Bobby Wade had six catches for 72 yards. Despite losing, the Chiefs dominated the Raiders in total yardage (409-166) and time of possession. The Chiefs offense generated 25 first downs, 13 by passing, 10 by rushing and made 5 of 15 third down conversions. They also made 2 of 3 fourth down conversions. The Eagles have a playmaking secondary and lead the league with six interceptions. Cassel will need to be very judicious with the ball and avoid mistakes against a Philadelphia defense that is fueled by creating turnovers. The Chiefs probably won’t see a lot of air time from QB Vick, rather they’ll use their rushing game and the Wildcat. They are 14th against the pass and 21st against the rush.
The Eagles (1-1) lost to New Orleans 22-48 at home in Week 2. QB Donovan McNabb suffered a cracked rib in Week 1 and sat out last week’s game. Back-up QB Kevin Kolb made 31 of 51 passes threw for 391 yards, but had three costly interceptions and was sacked twice. Their top RB Brian Westbrook had 13 carries for 52 yards and is listed as questionable for Sunday with an ankle sprain. TE Brent Celek had eight catches for 104 yards. WR DeSean Jackson is listed as questionable for Sunday with a groin injury. The Eagles finished with 463 total yards, but that number is somewhat deceiving. Four Philadelphia drives culminated in turnovers and the Eagles were unable to put any serious pressure on New Orleans down the stretch, despite the huge yardage total. The Eagles offense generated 23 first downs, 16 by passing, seven by rushing and made 7 of 16 third down conversions. Philadelphia used a lot of Wildcat formations last week and it could be more of the same this week with Vick in the fold and the injuries at the skill positions. Philadelphia has won three of its last four against the AFC West.
