2011 NFL Picks Week 3

by Alexander Banks on Sunday, September 25th, 2011

2011 NFL Picks Week 3: Soldier Field in the Windy City will be the site for a preview of what could easily be once again be the NFC Championship game as the (2-0) Green Packers [-4] and the (1-1) Chicago Bears [+4] are reacquainted. This exciting NFC North showdown is scheduled to get underway at 4:20 PM ET and you can catch all the hard-hitting action live on FOX. The OVER/UNDER for this game is set at a combined total of 45½ points scored.

For the Packers, this team has started this season the same way last one ended, as they’ve looked as every bit as dominant. With solid defense, a healthy running attack and Aaron Rodgers running the show, it’s hard to imagine Green Bay losing a game this season.

The Packs first test of the season will come in Week 3, as they’ll try to repeat what they did in last year’s playoffs on the road. The key for a Packers’ win today will be limiting the play of Jay Cutler. After two weeks, Green Bay’s defense has allowed the opposing quarterback to sort of run free up until the end of games.

Uncharacteristically, the champ’s pass defense has surrendered back-to-back 400-yard performances under their watch. In week 1, Drew Brees threw for 419 yards, as he kept his team up until the final play of the game. Last week, rookie sensation Cam Newton racked up the yards, tossing a whopping 432 big ones against them.

"It says a lot about our character that we can come up with a big play at the end," linebacker Clay Matthews said. "We need to preserve victories by limiting the amount of points they score and not putting ourselves in that position."

My 2011 NFL Picks Week 3 for the Packers vs Bears: It’s very hard for me to pick against the Packers right now, despite their defensive struggles containing QBs. Taking into consideration that Cutler isn’t the type of signal-caller that’s going to put up numbers like Brees and even Newton have after two weeks, I see no reason why I would pick the Bears to win this game.

The question then becomes: can the Packers fulfill their two-safety NFL Point Spreads? I believe the answer to that question is, yes! I like Green Bay in this one, behind a stellar effort from their defense, who I expect to pressure, and pick off Cutler several times today! I like the Packers at -4!
