Atlanta Falcons vs New Orleans Saints 2010 NFL Predictions, 2010 NFL Picks & 2010 NFL Odds: NFC South adversaries Atlanta and New Orleans will square off today at the Superdome in Louisiana. The divisional clash, which is the first of the season for both squads, is set to get underway at 1:00pm ET on FOX. 2010 NFL Predictions, Picks & Odds at SBGglobal.com have the Saints pegged as a -3.5 against the spread home favorite and the game total listed at 49.
Falcons Breakdown: Atlanta recovered from its season opening loss and then some by pummeling the Cardinals 41-7 at the
Georgia Dome. The Falcons, aside from one turnover, were nearly flawless as they racked up 33 first downs and 444 yards while holding the ball for 39:13.
Matt Ryan, who threw three interceptions in Atlanta's 27-35 loss at New Orleans last season, completed 21-of-32 passes for 225 yards and three touchdowns while the rushing attack, led by Jason Snelling (24 carries, 129 yards, two touchdowns), who filled in for an injured Michael Turner, accounted for 221 yards on 45 carries.
Atlanta's defense completely throttled Arizona, holding the Cardinals to 11 first downs (0-of-8 on third down) and 267 total yards. The Falcons also recorded three picks in the blowout win, two against Derek Anderson and one off of backup Max Hall.
Saints Breakdown: The defending champion Saints improved to 2-0 on Monday night, but they required a several Forty-Niner miscues in order to do it. New Orleans did not look at that super in the Bay Area last week, but like good teams do, they found a way to win or, in this case, San Francisco found it for them.
The Saints vaunted offense managed just 287 total yards and 17 first downs, but it came through in the clutch as Drew Brees connected with Marquis Colsten on a 30 yard pass that setup the game winning field goal.
Had it not been for four Forty-Niner turnovers, including two deep in Saints territory, New Orleans would never have been afforded the opportunity to come away with the 25-22 victory. In all fairness, though, Sean Payton's squad has made such a habit of causing turnovers that their role in them cannot be discounted.
Injury Report: (Falcons) Michael Turner (Probable – groin), Erik Coleman (Questionable – knee), Michael Jenkins (Questionable – shoulder). (Saints) Randall Gay (Out – concussion), Jeremy Shockey (Questionable – thigh), Reggie Bush (Out – broken leg).
NFL Picks Betting Trend: The Over is 5-1 in the Falcons last six games as a road dog in New Orleans with a spread between 0 and 3.5.
