Dallas Cowboys vs Houston Texans 2010 NFL Odds, Picks & Predictions

by Matt Foust on Sunday, September 26th, 2010

Dallas Cowboys vs Houston Texans 2010 NFL Odds, 2010 NFL Picks & 2010 NFL Predictions: The Dallas Cowboys find themselves backed against a Texas sized wall today as they attempt to avoid an 0-3 start to their season. Hosting the Pokes today are the undefeated Houston Texans, who would love nothing more than to steal a little attention from their Lone Star neighbors. The game between these two in-state rivals is scheduled to kickoff at 1:00pm ET at Reliant Stadium; it will be televised live on FOX. 2010 NFL Odds, Picks & Predictions at SBGglobal.com have the Texans listed as a -2.5 against the spread home favorite and the game total set at 47.5.

Cowboys Breakdown: The Cowboys offense, at least through two games, looks almost identical to last year's unit. They haveDallas Cowboys vs Houston Texans 2010 NFL Odds, Picks & Predictions no problem moving the ball up and down the field (averaging 395 yards per game, which ranks fourth in the league), but have a really difficult time finding paydirt (the Cowboys 13.5 point per game average ranks 26th in the NFL).

The main issue, which makes sense considering the Cowboys redzone woes, is a deterioration of the team's once potent rushing attack. Dallas is averaging a pathetic 69.5 rush yards per game and has failed to score a rushing touchdown in its first two contests.

The three headed monster that is Marion Barber, Felix Jones, and Tashard Choice will not find the going any easier this weekend, though, as the Texans rank second in the league in rush defense, giving up an average of just 31 yards per game. However, that stat may be a bit deceiving as both the Colts and Redskins, Houston's first two foes, chose to throw the ball against the Texans and did so with the greatest of ease, piling up a combined 822 yards through the air.

Texans Breakdown: Houston needed a monsterous comeback to improve to 2-0 last weekend, but it got one as Matt Schaub and the offense engineered 23 post halftime points to defeat Washington 30-27 in ovetime. Schaub completed 38-of-52 passes for 497 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception on the day.

His effort, along with running back Arian Foster's week one breakout against the Colts (231 rush yards, three touchdowns), has the Texans ranked first in the league in rushing (157.5 yards per game) and scoring (32 points per game) and sixth in passing at 283 yards per contest.

Injury Report: (Cowboys) Mike Jenkins (Probable – knee), Jason Witten (Probable – head). (Texans) Mario Williams (Probable – groin), Owen Daniels (Probable – knee), Andre Johnson (Questionable – ankle).

NFL Picks Betting Trend: The Cowboys are 6-2 against the spread and 7-1 straight up over the last five years coming off of back-to-back losses.
