retooled offense received some further adjustment mid-game as quarterback Bruce Gradkowski took over for an ineffective Jason Campbell. Gradkowskicompleted 11-of-22 passes for 162 yards, one touchdown, and a pick in leading the Raiders to 13 second half points.
Gradkowski, who aided Oakland in piling up 25 first downs and 404 total yards against St. Louis, has been named the starter for today's meeting with the Cardinals.
Another positive for Oakland was the performance of running back Darren McFadden, who carried the 30 times for 145 yards. The former first round pick had been spotty, at best, coming into this season, his third in the league. But through two games, he has been the player the Raiders thought they drafted when they took him fourth overall in 2008, rushing for 240 yards on 48 carries.
Cardinals Breakdown: Arizona got a 17-13 road win to open the season, but any warm and fuzzy feelings generated by that victory were wiped out by the team's showing in Atlanta last Sunday. The Cardinals got destroyed 41-7 by the Falcons at the Georgia Dome after yielding 33 first downs and 444 total yards to Matt Ryan and company.
The offense, other than Tim Hightower's 115 rush yards (11 carries), was no match for Atlanta's offensive assault, producing just 11 first downs and 267 total yards in the 20:47 it had the ball.
Quarterback Derek Anderson looked lost as well, completing 17-of-31 passes for 161 yards and two interceptions in his second start for Arizona.
