Week 4 NFL Picks

by Matt Foust on Monday, September 27th, 2010

Week 4 NFL Picks: Week three of the NFL season officially wraps up this evening with a great matchup between longtime NFC North foes Green Bay and Chicago. However, with yesterday's results in, a look ahead to week four is in order. The fourth week of the season usually serves as a sort of 'men from the boys' mile stone as those teams with playoff aspirations start to make a move, particularly if they find themselves with a sub .500 record through three games. Given that not quite so universal axiom, the following Week 4 NFL Picks matchups at online bookmaker BetUS.com are worth noting: Denver Broncos at Tennessee Titans and Arizona Cardinals at San Diego Chargers.

Denver Broncos at Tennessee Titans (-6): Denver came into the season with some question marks after finishing up with a 2-8 Week 4 NFL Picksrecord last year. The team has looked reasonably good through three games despite sitting at 1-2. The offense has certainly moved the ball, averaging 417 yards per game, but they have been ineffective in the red zone as illustrated by their 20.3 point per game average. That problem must be rectified, and soon, if Kyle Orton and company hope to earn a playoff berth. A good showing against the 2-1 Titans, which own the league's sixth best defense in terms of points per game allowed, might be just what the Broncos need to kick start a post season push. Conversely, shutting Denver down would be huge for the Titans, moving them to 3-1 with a tough stretch of games on the horizon (at Dallas, at Jacksonville, Philadelphia, at San Diego).

Arizona Cardinals at San Diego Chargers (-8): San Diego, the consensus pick to win the AFC West prior to the season, is off to another slow start under Head Coach Norv Turner as it dropped to 1-2 with yesterday's unexpected loss to Seattle. The Chargers, like the Broncos, have marched the ball up and down the field, but their special teams play has been nightmarish. In the season opener they gave up a 94 punt return score to KC's Dexter McCluster and Leon Washington produced two kickoff return touchdowns against the unit in Sunday's loss to the Seahawks. One has to believe that San Diego will shore things up and eventually get back in the playoff picture, they have too much talent not to.

Byes: Kansas City, Dallas, Tampa Bay, Minnesota
