Denver has survived the past two picks thanks to their ability to score and score quickly. Against the Chargers and the Saints, the Broncos jumped out to big early leads only to see them evaporate. Their win against San Diego was nearly undone by a Jay Cutler fumble that was whistled dead, and last week a fumble by tight end Tony Scheffler deep in New Orleans territory almost came back to bite them. They will need to avoid such mistakes if they are to cover at Arrowhead, regardless of the Chiefs dismal record.
Kansas City had a couple of good things happen last weekend, their running game emerged in the second half and Tyler Thigpen probably will never see the field for them again. For the second weekend in a row, however, the Kansas City run defense was absolutely stampeded. The Chiefs defense was suppose to keep them in games this year as their offense continued to develop, but thus far it could be argued that they have been the team's biggest problem. That does not bode well with Denver's offense next on the docket.
Damon Huard will get the start for Kansas City at quarterback this week as Brodie Croyle is still recovering from a week one shoulder injury.
