by Scott Burgess on Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

The Tennessee Titans are still looking for their first win of the season and their best chance may be this weekend when they hit the road to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars, Sunday Oct 4, at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. The Titans won both meetings over the Jaguars last season. NFL oddsmakers at Sportsbetting.com have the Titans as -3 point road favs over the Jaguars with the over/under set at 41.5 points. The Titans (0-3) lost to NY Jets 17-24 on the road in Week 3 to sit at the bottom of the AFC South. QB Kerry Collins made 15 of 37 passes for 170 yards with one TD pass and two interceptions, overall he’s thrown for 630 yards with four TD passes and four interceptions. Their top RB Chris Johnson had 22 carries for 97 yards, while RB LenDale Whyte pounded in a TD. WR Kenny Britt made four catches for 59 yards, while WR Nate Washington was the lone receiver to catch for a TD. They outrushed and outpassed the Jets, but failed to get anything going in the fourth quarter. The Titans do have offense despite losing all the time. They put up the 11th most total yards a game, thanks to their sixth ranked running game. On defense they allow a 18th ranked total yards a game, while they sit 29th against the pass and second best at preventing the rush.  QB Collins will get lots of practice throwing the ball against the Jags league worst pass defense and they  pound their way down the field with the running game.

The Jaguars (1-2) won in Houston 31-24 in Week 3 to sit tied for second in the AFC South.  QB David Garrard made 18 of 30 passes for 214 yards with a rushing TD, overall he’s thrown for 618 yards with two TD passes and one interception. Their top RB Maurice Jones-Drew had 23 carries for 119 yards with three TD’S, while also making four catches for 28 yards. Their top WR Mike Sins-Walker made six catches for 81 yards. The Jags outrushed the Texans 184-111 but fell short in the air 214-286. On defense they seem to be able to handle the rush. They give up a 25th ranked total yards a game, while they sit worst against the pass and 14th against the rush.
