Saints Breakdown: New Orleans enters this divisional battle with a 2-1 record after last weekend's overtime loss to the Falcons at the Superdome. Despite the winning tally, the Saints have not yet resembled the team that won 13 regular season games last year and stormed its way to the Lombardi Trophy. The offense, which averaged over 30 points per game in 2009, presently ranks 14th in yards and points per game at 331 and 21 respectively.
New Orleans defense has actually improved upon its 2009 numbers, but it is still yielding over 362 yards per game. Atlanta had its way last Sunday against the unit, producing 25 first downs and 417 yards of offense, 202 of which came on the ground.
Maybe Carolina will be the magic championship elixer New Orleans needs, but seems to have lost.
