Chicago Bears vs New York Giants 2010 NFL Picks, 2010 NFL Odds & 2010 NFL Predictions: The Chicago Bears will attempt to keep their perfect record intact tonight as they take on the Giants in New York. This evening's game is scheduled to kickoff at 8:20pm ET at the New Meadowlands Stadium; it wil be broadcast live on NBC's Sunday Night Football. 2010 NFL Picks, Odds & Predictions at online sportsbook SBGglobal.com have the Giants listed as a -3 against the spread home favorite and the Over/Under set at 44.
Bears Breakdown: Chicago, through three games, is one of the biggest surprises of the 2010 NFL season. While many
expected the Bears to be a decent team, hardly anyone anticipated a 3-0 start, especially with Dallas and Green Bay on the schedule. However, while Lovie Smith's squad is perfect in record, it has not been so on the field. The Bears have been good, but Monday's night 20-17 win over the Packers had more to do with Green Bay and less to do with Chicago.
The offense produced just 276 total yards and quarterback Jay Cutler got away with several questionable throws. Cutler finished the night 16-of-27 for 221 yards, one touchdown, and one interception while the rushing attack, which went neglected, pounded out 77 yards on 18 carries.
The defense played well, holding Green Bay to 379 yards in 35:49, and Devin Hester earned the game ball with a 62 yard punt return in the fourth quarter that put Chicago up 14-10.
Giants Breakdown: New York looked sloppy in its season opener against Carolina, but the talent gap enabled the Giants to secure a 31-18 win. The sloppiness continued in weeks two and three, and the Colts and Titans proved too much to overcome. As a result, New York comes into this game reeling and probably a tad bit desperate, despite being tied with the Cowboys and Redskins in the NFC East standings.
If the Giants are to snap out of their funk, the offense will need to play a better brand of football than it has over the past two weeks. New York managed just 13 first downs and 257 yards against the Colts and last weekend it self-destructed by turning the ball over three times (two Eli Manning interceptions) and committing 11 penalties.
NFL Picks Betting Trend: The Bears are 1-9 straight up and 1-8-1 against the spread in their last 10 games as a road dog. The lone win in that stretch came this season when they beat the Cowboys 27-20 in Dallas.
