Top Matchups NFL Week 5 Picks:
New England (-3) at Denver (O/U – 41.5)
Patriots QB Tom Brady's numbers weren't the best in Week 4 (21 of 32, 258 yards, one TD, one fumble lost), but he spread the ball around to nine different receivers and scored the Patriots' first touchdown on a 1-yard QB sneak in the first quarter. Their offense is ranked eighth in total yards, while their passing game sits fifth best in the league and they are average with a 18th ranked running game. The Broncos have shocked all going 4-0 thanks to QB Kyle Orton and his ninth ranked offense. They are mostly about the run currently ranked fourth. It’s all about defense for the Broncos, who are currently ranked second best in total yards allowed, while their ranked third against the pass and fifth against the rush. They have given up the least amount of points per-game in the NFL.
Cincinnati at Baltimore (-8)(O/U – 41.5)
The Ravens lost their first game at the hands of the Patriots in Week 4. QB Joe Flacco threw two TD passes, but Mark Clayton dropped a perfect fourth-down pass that would have given the Ravens a first-and-goal with 28 seconds left. The Ravens will utilize their defense against the Bengals average offense. The Ravens are the best team against the rush, which is the Bengals main chain mover. Against the pass of Flacco the Bengals are going to be in tough with a 25th ranked pass defense. The Ravens are getting high powered offense thanks to their sixth ranked passing game and fifth ranked running game.
Atlanta at San Francisco (-2.5)(O/U – 41.5)
The Niners shutout the Rams in Week 4 and they’ll look to do the same to Atlanta. Their offense will look to run down the Falcons 25th ranked rush defense with their 15th ranked running game. The Falcons had a bye week and they’ll be looking to improve on their 23rd ranked offense that’s all about the pass game. They don’t have much of a running game to put up against the Niners third ranked rush defense, they’ll want to go to the air against the Niners 14th ranked pass defense. The Niners defense allows the second least amount of points per-game.
