Packers vs Vikings Monday Night Football Odds

Packers vs Vikings Monday Night Football Odds: It is finally here, Brett Favre, the man synonymous with Packer football for the better part of two decades, will face his old team tonight at the Metrodome in Minneapolis. Making the match up even more intriguing is the fact that first place in the NFC North is at stake when Green Bay and Minnesota kick things off at 8:30pm ET on ESPN's Monday Night Football. Monday Night Football Odds at Bodog.com have the Vikings listed as a -4.5 against the spread favorite.

Packers Breakdown: Green Bay improved to 2-1 last weekend, throttling the Rams 36-17 at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Packers vs Vikings Monday Night Football OddsLouis. The Packers had their best offensive outing of the young season, posting 402 yards and 24 first downs in the lopsided win. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Favre's replacement and former protégé, completed 13-of-23 passes for 269 yards and two touchdowns and he also rushed eight times for 38 yards and a score. Rodgers used his best weapons quite effectively, hitting wideout Greg Jennings two times for 103 yards and connecting with Donald Driver four times for 95 yards and a touchdown.

Running back Ryan Grant helped power the Packers ground game to a 152 yard total as he carried the ball 26 times for 99 yards.

Green Bay Head Coach Mike McCarthy downplayed the Favre factor in tonight's game, choosing instead to focus on the natural rivalry that exists between the Packers and the Vikings.

"We want to beat everybody on the Vikings, Brett Favre included," McCarthy said.

Vikings Breakdown: Last Sunday was a perfect example of why 3-0 Minnesota coveted Favre so badly. The veteran passer conjured up some of his well known magic to get the Vikings past the Forty-Niners with precious little time left in regulation. With all hope seemingly gone, Favre uncorked a 32 yard pass that found Greg Lewis in the back of the endzone, giving Minnesota a 27-24 victory. The Southern Miss product finished the game 24-for-46 for 301 yards, two touchdowns, and a pick.

Minnesota's defense held San Francisco to 246 yards, 13 first downs, and zero third down conversions. The Forty Niners managed just 58 rush yards against the Vikes formidable front seven. Brad Childress' unit is allowing just 92 rush yards per game this season.

All-Pro running back Adrian Peterson, who has rushed for 452 yards in four career meetings against Green Bay, also side-stepped all the hubbub surrounding Favre.

"We are ready for [the game]," Peterson said. "That (Favre meeting his old team) doesn't change the game. We still have to lineup across from those guys and play football. That's what we're going to do."

Game Notes: Green Bay will need a rushing tally similar to the one they produced in last weekend's win over the Rams to have a chance in this game. The Packers have had all sorts of protection issues in their first three games, giving up a total of 12 sacks (on pace for 64!!). Without an effective ground game to neutralize Jared Allen and company, Rodgers could be in for a long night.

Monday Night Football Betting Trend: The Packers are 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 games as a road dog against Minnesota with a spread between 4 and 7.5.
