The Jaguars (2-2) beat Indianapolis 31-28 after a record 59 yard field goal by Josh Scobee. QB David Garrard completed 17 of 22 passes for 163 yards with two TD’s and RB Maurice Jones-Drew had 26 carries for 105 yards with a TD. Their top WR Mike Thomas made five catches for 68 yards. The Jags were 3-3 in the red zone. This was a shocking win over the Colts considering the Jags offense and defense have struggled since the beginning of the season. They are ranked 24th overall on offense with a 26th ranked pass game and 12th ranked ground game. RB Maurice Jones-Drew leads with 322 yards rushing and TE Marcedes Lewis leads with three TD’s. . They allow the 22nd most points per-game (17.8ppg), but their defense is ranked 30th overall giving up a 30th ranked 27.8 points per-game. There’s not much to look forward to for the Jags, but an emotional win over the Colts will boast their confidence against the league’s worst team.
The Bills (0-4) lost to the Jets 14-38 at home. QB Ryan Fitzpatrick made 12 of 27 passes for 128 yards with two TD’s as WR Steve Johnson and TE David Martin each added a TD. Their defense gave up 273 rushing yards to the Jets and will have their hands full against the run happy Jaguars. Their offensive line was atrocious and struggled blocking the Jets defensive line. The running game was non-existent as the Bills abandoned the run pretty quickly in the game when they were down by 17 in the second quarter. As for defense, the Bills have zero pass rush, can't stop the run and can't tackle to save their lives! They gave up 273 yards rushing and 444 total net yards. They allowed two running backs to run for over 100-yards, and let LaDainian Tomlinson run untouched for a 26-yard touchdown run in the 4th quarter. As for turnovers, the Bills were held off the stats page, with not a single forced fumble, no interceptions and, again, no sacks! Something needs to change on this unit. Maybe George Edwards needs to scrap the 3-4 defense and go back to the Cover 2 from last year. Either way, this defense is horrible!
