Chiefs vs Colts Spreads 2011 NFL Picks Week 5: The still winless Indianapolis Colts host the Kansas City Chiefs, Sunday Oct 9th, as the Colts have their best chance at their first win this week. The Colts won their last meeting 19-9, at home, but with Peyton Manning at the helm. NFL oddsmakers have the Colts as -1 point home favorites over the Chiefs with the over/under set at 39 points. Kansas City (1-3, 0-2 V) held on for a 22-17, home win, over Minnesota, in Week 4.  QB Matt Cassel completed 18 of 29 passes for 260 yards with one touchdown, while WR Dwayne Bowe made five catches for 107 yards with a touchdown. The Chiefs are winless no more. This week’s match-up is between the Chiefs 14th ranked rushing attack (110ypg) and the Colts low ranked, 28th ranked rushing defense (133ypg).   A key for Kansas City is to be able to run the ball.  But like most games in the NFL the moment eventually comes when the team must pass the ball. So this weeks key match-up is the Chiefs 30th ranked passing attack (159ypg) against the Colts 20th ranked passing defense (257ypg).  If the Chiefs are efficient in the passing game and able to convert some 3rd and 5+ threw the air a few times then look for the Chiefs to come away with a victory.

Indianapolis (0-4, 0-2 H) lost to Tampa Bay 17-24, on the road, in Week 4. QB Curtis Painter started this one, filling in for injured backup Kerry Collins and played better than most expected. Painter threw for 281 yards and two touchdowns, both long ones to Pierre Garcon. He wasn't nearly as effective down the stretch, but Painter and Garcon were the lone bright spots for the Colts. RB Joseph Addai had 11 carries for 41 yards. Pass protection is key for the Colts rookie Painter. Painter was sacked four times and lost one fumble as injuries mounted on an already battered offensive line. He was under frequent duress during the second half. Coach Jim Caldwell said Tuesday that he hasn't decided if Painter or Kerry Collins will start Sunday. Defensive tackle Eric Foster on Tuesday morning had surgery on the dislocated right ankle he suffered during the second quarter and is out for the season. It was a punch in the gut for his teammates.  Get $50 in Free NFL Picks here.
