NFL Power Rankings Week 5: No team got more off-season attention than the Jets thanks to their gum flapping Head Coach Rex Ryan. Through four weeks, though, the big man has New York playing a championship brand of football. The Jets jump five spots in our SBGglobal.com NFL Power Rankings as a result, putting them in the top spot and just ahead of fellow AFC squads Baltimore and Pittsburgh.
SBGglobal.com NFL Power Rankings Week 5:
1. New York Jets (3-1 SU) (3-1 ATS): The mouth, the hype, the swagger…it's all warranted.
2. Baltimore Ravens (3-1 SU) (2-2 ATS): One game shy of perfection and they are just starting to hit their stride.
3. Pittsburgh Steelers (3-1 SU) (3-1 ATS): The defense is outstanding and now the offense gets its quarterback.
4. Atlanta Falcons (3-1 SU) (2-2 ATS): A couple of close calls, but its hard to argue with the results.
5. Green Bay Packers (3-1 SU) (2-2 ATS): Living on the edge, but living well nonetheless.
6. New Orleans Saints (3-1 SU) (0-3-1 ATS): What happened to the offense? Maybe they'll find it against Arizona, almost everyone else has.
7. New England Patriots (3-1 SU) (2-2 ATS): A special quarterback and a special special teams unit. If the defense comes around the AFC East race will be fun to watch.
8. Kansas City Chiefs (3-0 SU) (3-0 ATS): What were the odds? A gazillion to one?
9. Indianapolis Colts (2-2 SU) (2-2 ATS): Peyton Manning is amazing, but the Colts streak of seven consecutive seasons with at least 12 wins is in serious jeopardy.
10. Houston Texans (3-1 SU) (2-1-1 ATS): This team knows how to win a shootout, but it would be nice if they didn't always have to.
11. San Diego Chargers (2-2 SU) (2-2 ATS): Yeah, the special teams suck, but nobody wants to face that offense.
12. Dallas Cowboys (1-2 SU) (1-2 ATS): They have the worst record in the NFC East, but they are still the class of the division.
13. Denver Broncos (2-2 SU) (2-2 ATS): The Bears could use a quarterback like Kyle Orton.
14. Tennessee Titans (2-2 SU) (2-2 ATS): So much for another 2,000 yard season. How about 1,500?
15. Minnesota Vikings (1-2 SU) (1-1-1 ATS): Maybe the offense developed some timing over the bye week. We'll find out on Monday night against the Jets.
16. Chicago Bears (3-1 SU) (2-2 ATS): New York served up a healthy dose of humble pie on Sunday night, and Jay Cutler had seconds, thirds, fourths…all before the break.
17. Philadelphia Eagles(2-2 SU) (1-3 ATS): The offense is dynamic with Vick under center; Andy Reid had better hope he returns soon.
18. Cincinnati Bengals (2-2 SU) (2-2 ATS): The passing game opens up, but it is not enough to overcome the previously winless Browns.
19. St. Louis Rams (2-2 SU) (3-1 ATS): There is a three way tie for the NFC West lead, but the Rams may be in the driver's seat.
20. Washington Redskins (2-2 SU) (2-1-1 ATS): Redskin fans need to get used to this team being ugly, win or lose.
21. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-1 SU) (1-1-1 ATS): A win at Cincy will send a big message to the Falcons and Saints, and the rest of the NFC for that matter.
22. New York Giants (2-2 SU) (2-2 ATS): Did New York rediscover its pass rush or was that the Bears JV offensive line?
23. Miami Dolphins (2-2 SU) (2-2 ATS): The Dolphins should issue ticket refunds to Monday night's attendees.
24. Cleveland Browns (1-3 SU) (2-1-1 ATS): Don't sleep on this team, you'll only win by a few points, unless you are Cincinnati.
25. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-2 SU) (2-2 ATS): Miracles do happen, unfortunately they do not happen often enough.
26. Seattle Seahawks (2-2 SU) (2-2 ATS): Peter Carroll's squad looks good when the other team turns the ball over a lot or forgets to tackle on special teams.
27. Oakland Raiders (1-3 SU) (1-3 ATS): A committment to self-destruction.
28. San Francisco 49ers (0-4 SU) (2-2 ATS): Looks like the Bay Area isn't the only thing the Forty-Niners have in common with the Raiders.
29. Detroit Lions (0-4 SU) (3-1 ATS): One can see the improvement, just not on the scoreboard.
30. Arizona Cardinals (2-2 SU) (1-3 ATS): How did this team get two wins?
31. Buffalo Bills (0-4 SU) (1-3 ATS): Hopefully Andrew Luck enjoys chicken wings and cold weather.
32. Carolina Panthers (0-4 SU) (1-3 ATS): A game road effort, but Carolina is still blue.
