The Redskins (2-2) beat Tampa Bay 16-13 at home in Week 4 and now sit last in the NFC East. QB Jason Campbell made 12 of 22 passes for 170 yards with two TD passes and one interception, overall he’s thrown for 963 yards with five TD passes and five interceptions. Their top RB Clinton Portis had 25 carries for 95 yards, while top WR Santana Moss made two catches for 74 yards with a TD. TE Chris Cooley had five catches for 65 yards with a TD. The Redskins generated 125 yards rushing and 152 yards passing. The main offense for the Redskins comes from their 15th ranked passing game, while struggling with their 21st ranked running game. TE Chris Cooley is the only consistent player on the Redskins offense. While the unit was unable to generate any kind of flow, Cooley is the steadying force with his sure hands and ability to break tackles. On defense they look good on paper with their new acquisitions. Their main force is their fourth ranked pass defense and their fifth least amount of points allowed per-game. If they can improve their 22nd ranked rush defense they could be competitive. The Redskins are 0-3-1 ATS and 1-3 over/under.

The Panthers (0-3) lost in Dallas 7-21 in Week 3 and sit third in the NFC South. QB Jake Delhomme made 22 of 33 passes for 220 yards with a TD pass and two interceptions, overall he’s thrown for 601 yards with two TD passes and seven interceptions. Their top RB DeAngelo Williams had 11 carries for 64 yards, while top WR Dante Rosario made three catches for 58 yards with a TD. The Panthers generated 73 yards rushing and 198 yards in the air. The Panthers were supposed to be competitive, but have struggled mightily. Their offense can’t get anything going with their 23rd ranked passing game and 20th ranked running game. Their defense can only stop the pass and struggle big time against the rush currently ranked worst in the league.  Not only are they the worst against the rush, but they allow the third most points per-game of any other team. The Panthers are 0-3 ATS and 2-1 over/under.

Recent Trends to Consider:

  • Under is 3-0-1 in the last 4 meetings.
  • Redskins are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 meetings.
  • Road team is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 meetings.
  • Underdog is 8-0 ATS in their last 8 meetings.
