NFL Week 5 Spreads 2011

by Alexander Banks on Saturday, October 8th, 2011

NFL Week 5 Spreads 2011: With eight 1 PM games slated for Sunday’s NFL Week 5 Spreads 2011, there will be plenty of matchups with lots on the line. For starters, you will not be seeing the Ravens, Browns, Cowboys, Dolphins, Rams, or Redskins this week. Those teams will have the first Bye Week of the 2011 season. From there on, everyone else will be in action, most which will be on Sunday’s early slot.

NFL Week 5 Spreads 2011Co-leading the NFC South going into Week 5, the (3-1) New Orleans Saints [-6½] will get their first look at their Divisional rival (1-3) Carolina Panthers [+6½], and their rookie quarterback sensation, Cam Newton. This game takes place at Bank of America Stadium on FOX. Get $50 in Free NFL Picks here!

It’s going to be very interesting to see how the Newton vs Brees matchup plays out. Both guys will start Week 5 listed in the top five in total QB yards thrown. Drew Brees is currently second in the league (1,410) and Newton is a close third place (1,386) in that category. Both guys trail New England’s Tom Brady and his 1,553 aerial yards.

Another great NFL Week 5 Spreads 2011 matchup takes place at Ralph Wilson Stadium Orchard Park. Two teams who appear to have switched roles early on in the season will meet in a very important game. Looking to turn their season around before it’s too late will be the last-place (1-3) Philadelphia Eagles [-3] taking on the surprising co-division-leaders the (3-1) Buffalo Bills [+3].

While the Eagles came in with Super Bowl expectations from the get-go, no one really expected anything from the Bills, especially playing in the AFC East. Nevertheless, after 4 weeks, the Bills are co-division leaders and the Eagles sit in the cellar of the NFC East. Who would have thunk it? Not the Eagles, I bet! This is a very important game for both clubs!

Another entertaining, 1 PM matchup with plenty on the line happens to be, one, if not, my favorite game this week. Reliant Stadium in “Space City” will be the location for a very intriguing battle between the visiting (2-2) Oakland Raiders [+6] taking on the NFL Point Spreads favorites, (3-1) Houston Texans [-6].

Raider Nation will be playing/watching this game with heavy hearts, as news that longtime owner Al Davis died due to a massive heart attack at the age of 82 on Oct. 8th. Despite what anyone thought of Davis and his decision-making as an owner no one can deny the fact that he was an icon, loved the game of football and he will be missed…
