The Forty-Niner offense did not do much, garnering just 13 first downs and 228 total yards, but it did not need to. Mike Singletary's defense scored three touchdowns, as Scott McKillop recovered a fumble in the endzone, Ray McDonald recovered a fumble and ran it 11 yards to pay dirt, and Patrick Willis intercepted a pass and took it 23 yards for a score. When the Rams were not turning the ball over, they amassed just nine first downs and 177 yards.

Quarterback Shaun Hill completed 14-of-24 passes in the win for 152 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Glen Coffee, filling in for the injured Frank Gore, carried the ball 24 times for 74.
