Cleveland Browns vs Buffalo Bills NFL Picks, NFL Odds & NFL Predictions: Worse meets bad today as the winless Browns take on the 1-3 Bills in an epic and inept AFC showdown. Kickoff is set for 1:00pm ET at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Buffalo, New York; the game will be broadcast live on CBS. NFL Picks at Sportsbetting.com have the Bills listed as a -6.5 against the spread favorite.
Browns Breakdown: Some things just are not meant to be, and unfortunately for Cleveland, that something appears to be a
win. The Browns came close last Sunday to getting off the snide, but fell 20-23 in overtime to division and in-state rival Cincinnati at Cleveland Browns Stadium. Cincinnati scored the tying touchdown with 1:55 seconds left in regualtion, but the Browns Shaun Rogers blocked the extra point to send the game into a sudden death playoff. The Bengals blew more than a few chances in the extra frame, as did the Browns, but they did not squander their final opportunity as Shane Graham booted a 31 yarder through the uprights with just 00:04 left in the game.
Cleveland finished the day with 395 yards and 22 first downs. Quarterback Derek Anderson performed much better than he did against Baltimore the previous week, completing 26-of-48 passes for 269 yards, a touchdown, and one interception. The Browns also had a couple of potential young playmakers emerge in the loss as running back Jerome Harrison carried the ball 29 times for 121 yards and rookie wideout Mohamed Massaquoi caught eight passes for 148 yards.
Cleveland's defense played farely well in the loss, but they still gave up 375 total yards and 154 rush yards. They did, however, record two sacks and eight quarterback hits.
Bills Breakdown: Dick Jauron's squad dropped to 1-3 and to last place in the AFC East standings last Sunday, losing in ugly 10-38 fashion at Miami. The Buffalo offense appears to have come off the rails the past two weeks, scoring a total of just 17 points. Buffalo posted a combined 57 points in weeks one and two. Their effort against the Dolphins stunk out loud as they amassed just 206 yards, 10 first downs, and one third down conversion. Quarterback Trent Edwards was more of a problem than a solution, tossing three picks against division rival Miami.
Buffalo's rushing attack did not help the beleagured Edwards, accumulating a paltry 46 (2.7 yards per carry). Marshawn Lynch returned to the lineup with little fanfare as he carried the ball eight times for a total of four yards. Fred Jackson led the team with nine carries for 42 yards.
Wide receiver Terrell Owens contributed three catches for 60 yards, but he did not find the endzone.
The Bills defense swarmed for a second straight week, producing six sacks and seven tackles for loss. However, Miami was able to generate 336 yards, 25 first downs, and nine third down conversions against the unit. Tony Sparano's club also ran for 250 yards (5.6 ypc) and converted on four of their five redzone scoring opportunities.
