The Detroit Lions enjoyed their bye so much that they took another one last week when they hosted the Bears. Minnesota, meanwhile, managed to keep their division title hopes alive with a narrow Monday night win in New Orleans. The Vikings skirted around disaster on a number of occasions and thanks to the Saints inability to protect the ball (four turnovers) secured a 30-27 victory.
Brad Childress' team was not all that impressive but they did enough to earn the win inspite of allowing Reggie Bush to return two punts for touchdowns. Quarterback Gus Frerotte made a couple of nice throws under pressure late in the fourth quarter, one of which resulted in a game winning touchdown to Bernard Berrian.
