The New York Giants have been in Super Bowl form all season long and they will look to continue that tonight against a Browns team that has failed to live up to its pre-season hype. The game is set to kick off at 8:30pm ET at Cleveland Browns Stadium and it will televised on ESPN's Monday Night Football.
Monday Night Football betting odds at Bodoglife.com have the Giants as a -9 road favorite and the game total set at 44.
The Giants, sitting at 4-0, now have a somewhat comfortable lead in the NFC East. Both the Cowboys and Redskins lost yesterday, moving each club to 4-2 on the year. The Eagles won on the road in San Francisco and bumped their record up to 3-3. This, along with the injury to Tony Romo, gives New York a little bit of wiggle room, but they cannot afford rest on their laurels.
Last week the Giants continued to destroy opposing defenses, this time putting over 500 yards and 40 points on a Seahawks' defense that was suppose to be one of the better units in the league. Eli Manning threw for 267 yards and two touchdowns even without Plaxico Burress in the line-up, and running back Brandon Jacobs added 136 yards rushing while averaging a ridiculous 9.1 yards per carry.
The Browns are 1-3 through four games and will enter this game after securing their first win of the season back on September 28th against the winless Bengals. Cleveland was not overly impressive in their lone victory, but benefited from five Cincinnati turnovers. On the year, Romeo Crennel's team is averaging just 11.5 points per game while allowing 19.5.
Last year Cleveland's offense was one of the best in the league and it was suppose to keep them in the thick of the AFC North race this season. But it has been a major frustration in 2008 as quarterback Derek Anderson has struggled to find any kind of rhythm in the passing game. That trend may continue tonight with the absence of tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. from the Browns line-up. Winslow is doubtful after being hospitalized the last several days with a mystery illness.
