Houston (3-2, 1-1 V) lost to Oakland 20-25, at home, in Week 5. QB Matt Schaub threw for 416 yards and two touchdowns for the Texans but missed star WR Andre Johnson, who sat out with a right hamstring injury. Schaub has thrown a touchdown pass in 13 consecutive games, a franchise record. RB Arian Foster had 22 carries for 68 yards and he was top receiver with five catches for 116 yards. Houston outgained the Raiders 473-278 and held to them to 11 first downs and 94 yards rushing, but lost. The Raiders aren't nearly as good as the Ravens. In their three victories, the Ravens are averaging 35.5 points a game. And Baltimore's supposed to be a defensive-oriented team. Is that too much to ask of an offense that has been one of the NFL's most prolific over the last three years? The offense should be embarrassed to be outplayed by a defense that's still learning a new scheme and incorporating new players. That's what happened against Oakland. If it happens at Baltimore, the Texans will be wallowing in 3-3 mediocrity. The Texans have an eighth ranked offense (398ypg), 11th ranked pass game (265ypg) and fifth ranked running game 132ypg.
Baltimore (3-1, 2-0 H) was on their bye week in Week 5. In Week 4 they cruised to a 34-17, at home, in a bizarre game that featured an NFL-record five returns for scores. Baltimore's three touchdowns on defense were the most in franchise history. Jameel McClain took a fumble by Sanchez six yards for a score on New York's first offensive play, Jarret Johnson scored on a 26-yard fumble return and Lardarius Webb put the Ravens up 34-17 in the third quarter by taking an interception 73 yards into the end zone. Offensively QB Joe Flacco went 10 for 31 for 163 yards. Baltimore has won 12 of its last 13 at home and are 19-1 when scoring at least 30 points under offensive coordinator Cam Cameron. Without Andre Johnson to stretch the field, Matt Schaub will need to be extremely careful against a ball-hawking Baltimore secondary, who returned three turnovers from New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez for touchdowns in the Ravens 34-17 victory two weeks ago. Defensively, the Texans will need to focus on stopping Baltimore's rushing tandem of Ray Rice and Ricky Williams, who has eked out a productive career in between stops at the local ashram. Both average over 4.5 yards a carry, taking pressure off of Joe Flacco, who is only completing 49.5% of his passes in his fourth season in the league. Get $50 in Free NFL Picks here.
