Week 6 NFL Picks 2011

by Alexander Banks on Friday, October 14th, 2011

Week 6 NFL Picks 2011: Two teams fading in the AFC East will meet Monday night at MetLife Stadium, as the winless (0-4) Miami Dolphins [+7] visit the struggling, NFL Odds favorite (2-3) New York Jets [-7]. This old, bitter rivalry gets underway at 8:30 PM ET (7:30 PM CT/5:30 PM PT) on ESPN. The OVER/UNDER is set at a combined total of 42½ points.

These are two clubs desperate for a win. For the Jets, the success of their past two postseasons hasn’t exactly transferred well into the regular season. Starting the 2011 campaign 0-3 on the road isn’t exactly what Jets fans expected of their team, especially after taking out Peyton Manning and Tom Brady in back-to-back Playoff weeks.

But the Jets’ situation isn’t as bad as everyone thinks, at least when compared to Miami’s. The fact is that those three road games New York, weren’t against crappy teams, but potential playoff clubs in the (3-2) Oakland Raiders; who could easily be 4-1, the (4-1) Baltimore Ravens and most recently the (4-1) New England Patriots.

The Dolphins, on the other hand, have gone from bad to terrible, and by the looks of it, it’s about to get even worse. According to troubled wide receiver Brandon Marshall, his main objective in Monday night’s game against the Jets will be to get tossed! Yes, you read it correctly… not to win the game, not to catch ever ball thrown his way, not to have an impact on the game, but to get thrown out…

“My goal is to get thrown out midway through the second quarter,” said Marshall, who this offseason was supposedly diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. “I’m serious. They want to fine me, it’ll probably be like a $50,000 fine.”

When asked if he was kidding, the 2-time Pro Bowler assured reporters that he was dead serious about this… Get $50 in Free NFL Picks here!

“The past four games, it’s been tough for me trying to control some things,” he added. “I’m just going to let it out. I don’t care if they have two, three cameras on me, I don’t care if I have penalties. It doesn’t matter. I’m going to let it all out… I don’t know if it’s throwing a football 15 yards into the bleachers and getting a 15-yarder, or punting the ball and getting thrown out of the game, but something is going to happen.”

What’s my Week 6 NFL Picks 2011 for this one? Geez, I predict… Brandon Marshall will be thrown out of the game! On a serious note, Miami has no chance against even the worst of the efforts from the Jets this week. With no quarterback to throw the ball, a lack of consistency in the running game, a sorry defense, and a head coach who has no idea what to do with his personnel, I see this game as a blow out for New York!
