The Lions (1-4) lost 20-28 to Pittsburgh at home in Week 5 and sit dead last in the NFC North. QB Matt Stafford was out with an injury and backup QB Daunte Culpepper was in. Stafford is listed as doubtful for the Packers tilt. Culpepper made 23 passes for 37 yards with one TD pass and an interception. Their top RB Kevin Smith had 20 carries for 53 yards, while top WR Dennis Northcutt made five catches for 70 yards with a TD. They improved on offense with Culpepper at the helm , they generated 110 yards rushing and 225 yards in the air. Their offense is currently ranked 21st overall with a 16th ranked passing game and 19th ranked running game. Detroit's rookie coach, Jim Schwartz, came from Tennessee, where he coordinated one of the league's top defenses over the past few years. He does not have nearly as much talent to work with now, but the Lions have improved from last in total defense to 22nd this year. He has a tough task ahead of him, however, in game-planning for the Packers' explosive offense. The Lions defense will have to watch for the Packers 12th ranked passing game. As for their rush defense they should do well considering the Packers are 22nd at running the ball. The Lions average 20.6ppg and give up 32.4ppg; on the road they average 25.5ppg and allow 46.5ppg. They are 2-3 ATS and 3-2 over/under. Culpepper has 14 touchdowns and zero interceptions in his last five games against the Packers. DE Cliff Avril has a sack in three straight games against divisional opponents.

The Packers (2-2) lost in Minnesota 23-30 in Week 4 and sat out last week with a bye. The Packers sit third in the NFC North. Against the Vikings, QB Aaron Rodgers made 26 of 37 passes for 384 yards with two TD passes and one I interception; overall he’s thrown for 1,098 yards with six TD passes and one interception. Their top RB Ryan Grant had 11 carries for 51 yards, while TE Jermichael Finely made six catches for 128 yards with a TD. WR Jordy Nelson made three catches for 47 yards with a TD. The Packers offense amassed a low 82 yards rushing but a whopping 342 yards in the air. They have a 12th ranked passing game and they put up the eighth most points per-game. The main culprit for Green Bay's sluggish 2-2 start has been its offensive line, mostly OL Aaron Kampman . The Packers have surrendered a league-high 20 sacks, despite playing one fewer game than most teams due to their early bye. A combination of injuries and poor play are to blame and the Packers brought back the veteran Tauscher this week to try to stabilize the line. Their defense is 18th overall with a 17th ranked pass defense and 20th ranked rush defense. The Packers average 26ppg and give up 23.2ppg; they average 22.5ppg at home and allow 23ppg. They are 2-2 ATS and 3-1 over/under.
