by Matt Foust on Sunday, October 17th, 2010

Miami Dolphins vs Green Bay Packers 2010 NFL Picks, 2010 NFL Predictions & 2010 NFL Odds: The Miami Dolphins begin the second quarter of their season today with a road game against the banged up Green Bay Packers. The AFC/NFC showdown is scheduled to get underway at 1:00pm ET at legendary Lambeau Field; it will be broadcast live on CBS. 2010 NFL Picks, Predictions & Odds at online bookmaker SBGglobal.com have the Packers listed as a -3 against the spread home favorite and the Over/Under set at 44.

Dolphins Breakdown: Miami began the season 2-0 after securing road wins at Buffalo and Minnesota, but the team dropped Miami Dolphins vs Green Bay Packers 2010 NFL Picks, Predictions & Oddsback-to-back home games against division rivals New York and New England before its week five bye.

Tony Sparano's squad had two weeks to think about what went wrong against the Jets and Pats, but it did not need the full 14 days to assess a major weakness. The Dolphins fired its special team's coach the day after its 14-41 loss to New England.

If that unit can make a turnaround this afternoon, Miami should have a chance in this game. The Dolphins defense, which ranks seventh in the league in yards per game allowed, has traveled well this season. Miami gave up an average of 265 yards and 10 points in its first two road games, where it also finished +2 in turnover margin.

Packers Breakdown: Green Bay comes into today's game with a 3-2 record, but the Packers have been one of the more disappointing teams through the first five weeks of play. Many expected the Pack to roll through their opposition, but, thus far, the team has looked sloppy, particularly over the last three weeks.

Green Bay's offense, under the guidance of Aaron Rodgers, has been pedestrian of late, generating just 30 points in losses to the Bears and Redskins. Last week's performance against Washington was particularly egregious as the team converted just two of its 13 third down opportunites and one of its three red zone chances.

The Redskins game hurt in other ways as well. Linebacker Nick Barnett suffered a season ending wrist injury and tight end Jermichael Finley sustained a knee injury that will keep him out a minimum of eight weeks. Rodgers also sustained a concussion in the 13-16 loss, but he is scheduled to make the start today.

NFL Picks Betting Trend: The Dolphins are 8-2 against the spread in their last 10 games as a road dog with a total between 41.5 and 44 (Under 8-2).
